COUNSELING SERVICES

Tools and insights to manage the unique dynamics of adoptive or foster care family settings.

Why is counseling important?

We believe trauma based approaches help set up adoptive families for long term success that goes far beyond the time we are with you.

Counseling can help people navigate through difficult life situations, trauma, and stress in a healthier way. Families are provided with the tools and insights to manage the usual relational dynamics, as well the unique family components that occur within adoptive or foster care family settings.

How Expressions of Hope can help

We help by removing certain barriers that hinder the process and to increase the parent’s ability to emotionally support the child.

Therapy for children

All kids have difficulty understanding their thoughts and emotions that affect how they feel, think, or act.

Your child may qualify for one-on-one counseling sessions with a licensed therapist.  Therapy helps children become more aware of their thoughts and feelings and help them develop skills to manage them.

Therapy for parents

Therapy can help us to identify, address, and manage their past, or present, experiences that impact the way they relate to their child. Parenting therapy can improve communication between parent and child to foster a deeper bonding and provide parents with a cohesive and structured parenting approach.  Regardless of what situation you may be in as a parent, seeing a counselor can equip you with the necessary tools to navigate your experience.

Group Therapy for parents and their children

Sometimes we need a third party to see how we interact with our child who can then guide us toward the best professional care possible.  Group therapy where the parent and child are both present in a session can give us more insight than meeting one-on-one.  Whether it be finding better ways to share your feelings, or improving your communication, parent-child therapy sessions can empower all family members towards a more effective, and loving, family dynamic.

There is hope for your family.
